Just did this in my sketchbook tonight for illustration - it's based off of a fable-esque story about crows and greed.

If I never have to do another self portrait, it will be too soon.

Tablet drawing assignment - self portrait looking up, self portrait looking down.

 

At least I'm getting pretty good at drawing my own head.

Colorful Baby Boomer - NSFW

First finished illustration project!

We randomly chose two words and had to create an illustration from them  - mine were "colorful" and "baby boomer".
Fairly happy with this, it was required that we do it in acrylic, which frustrates me a little because theres several things I would like to fix that would have either a) not happened in the first place or b) been easy for me to fix up after the fact if I had been allowed to do this digitally. Also would have taken me a quarter of the time to paint in all those flat colors. Oh well.

Two little sketchbook spread things that I had to do for illustration - I probably didn't spend longer than  and hour- hour and  a half on them, but I sort of like them, so I figured I'd post.

Finished Self- Portrait (#2)

Expect to see a lot of my face around - I was assigned three more self portraits for this upcoming week. o.0

This is the finished digital painting from the linework I posted earlier - I'm pretty happy with it! I definitely think its one of the best likenesses of myself I've ever gotten plus I didn't even have to use a photo. :)

Self-portrait in progress

I have to do another self-portrait for tablet drawing class - I literally just finished this sketch for it. And I'm um, really proud of it. I can tell that drawing from the tablet is really improving both my observational skills and my tablet drawing. Unfortunately, knowing my long history of self-portraits, this will probably not be as good finished so I think I'm going to save the lines and maybe use them for something else. :)

FIGURE DRAWING FUN TIME (Nudity Warning)

So, some drawings-from-life from the last few weeks, mostly from/for my life drawing class.  First we have a sort of incorrect ribcage... its hard to keep track of all of them!!!

Lots of gestures from in-class yesterday - I think the time limit increases as you go down from like 5 min to 20 min.

And my Drawing from the Tablet homework for this week - another example of something I was happy with until I took it into class. Tablet drawing seems to do that to me a lot. :/

Digital Gestures

Just wanted to post a couple sheets of gestures from my tablet drawing class today - these are two out of four pages of gestures and then two pages of extended poses (with like two poses each on them).

Our model today was absolutely incredible - I could barely draw some of the poses he was striking, let alone comprehend how he was managing to hold them. o-o
